Assistant Engineer is responsible for daily operation and technical maintenance of audio recording equipment. An intimate knowlege of microphone selection and usage, mixer topology, studio layout and design, patchbay signal flow, and ProTools editing is essential.

Maintain professional artist relations.

I have assisted or participated in sessions for artists such as James Taylor, The Mighty Mighty Bostones, Fountains of Wayne, Piebald, Mary Timony, Letters to Cleo, Josie and the Pussycats film soundtrack, Nina Gordon of Veruca Salt, Consonant, the Ivory Coast, American Hi Fi, Averi, Loveless, Josh Ritter

​Director of events at Bowdoin College's primary venue for music performance. Audio video specialist directing stage management, sound reinforcement, and live performance support. Plan and execute sound reinforcement support for world class Grammy-winning artists and high profile guests on stage.  Meet daily deadlines to capture multitrack audio and video footage of events and mix/edit/distribute recordings.

 

Hires, trains, and mentors a team of approximately 10 student Technical Assistants.

Routinely communicate with and support diverse range of high profile guests, including Toshi Reagon, Geoffrey Canada, Chimamamnda Ngozi Adichie, Fatuma Hussein, Esperanza Spalding, Sen. George Mitchell, Jason Marsalis, DeRay Mckesson, Maine Gubernatorial and Congressional debates, NPR’s From the Top progra
m, and others.

Lecturer in Music Technology

Bowdoin College

Brunswick, Maine

Design and teach MUS1451: Intro to Audio Recording Techniques, a course on audio technology, history, current trends, and future application. Topics include broadcast and studio work, with emphasis on media and culture, and special role of audio production as a vehicle for social change. This became the most popular course in the Music department and was always oversubscribed.

Faculty advisor for MUS2970: Intermediate Independent Study for more advanced student projects in audio production. Great opportunity for mentorship and one-on-one instruction for students that want to go further and combine their interdisciplinary interests into a unique vision. Recent projects range from ethnomusicological studies of the role of audio technology in eras of American Hip Hop music, to complex multitrack audio original compositions using Pro Tools and Logic.
